Let me start by saying I’m not the type of person who needs things always nice and clean. If you saw the inside of my car you’d understand. But for some reason I seem to always pay extra special attention to my golf clubs, making sure they sparkle before a round. I don’t always get a chance to give them a good wash and scrub before every round, but rarely do I go two rounds without giving them a nice bath. I don’t know what it is, but I feel like I just play better and get in a better mind set, when my irons are sparkling and ready to go. Call me crazy.

For the longest time I had used whatever scrubbing tool was at the ready, and even had this small knobby odd looking thing that had been in my bag for years doing the job. It was small and the bristles were weak and not firm enough to really get in to the grooves of my irons.

Then I came across the BrushPro made by Frogger, who also makes the Amphibian Towel (which I’m sure you’ve seen the commercial for if you’ve ever watched the Golf Channel for more than 30 minutes!). I have to hand it the guys at Frogger, they make great, innovative products. Both the Amphibian Towel and the BrushPro won “Best New Product” at the annual PGA Merchandise Show (2009 and 2008 respectively).

The BrushPro features a large handle that fits in to your palm nice and comfortably. You can tell how sturdy it is when you hold it, a sure leg up on most of the other brushes I’ve used that usually come with a thin, toothebrush like handle that feels like it will snap if too much pressure is applied. It also comes with an interchangeable brush head for cleaning your golf shoes. Which we all know how those softspikes can clog up with dirt and grass.

One of the greatest features of the BrushPro is the groove cleaner, which pops out from the top of the brush and locks in to place. This is a great tool to have to dig out the caked in dirt deep in the grooves of your irons. It’s nice and sharp and will have no problem digging anything out of those grooves.

Finally, the BrushPro comes with a bag clip and a spring-loaded retractable cord that extends out to 2 and 1/2 feet for easy cleaning.

This tool has made my clubs so much easier, that I just may have to start cleaning them before EVERY round now!

Frogger’s BrushPro is available in various colors for $19.95. You can usually find their products at most large golf retail shops, but they also offer free shipping on all orders through their website (www.froggergolf.com)
