Let’s face it, golf is expensive. And it’s not getting any cheaper. I, like most people are always on the lookout for deals on greens fees. Whether they be from something like Groupon, direct email specials from a course, or twilight specials, the deals are out there. You just have to keep your eyes open and know the right sources.
A buddy of mine was recently visiting from out of town, and as usual I didn’t get much of a fair warning. So I was pressed to find us a tee time on short notice. I started to call around to a few of the local courses in the area, and they were either booked up or had tournaments the day we were looking to play. I quickly grew tired of all the phone calls and took to the web. That’s where I came across a great site for tee times for golf clubs. The site is called EZlinks.com.
EZlinks is hooked in to the tee time reservation systems of tons of courses throughout the country, and their list seems to be growing. There is a section of the site which allows you to search for “Tee Time Specials” and from what I can tell, it’s there that courses seem discount their rates in order to have a full tee sheet (like a hotel trying to fill unbooked rooms). So if you are looking for a last minute deal, this is where you should check first.
There is also a great feature to the site where it allows your “Name Your Price”. Very similar to Priceline.com for travel, you log in to the site, pick your desired course and submit a bid (aka Name Your Price) to play. I haven’t attempted this yet, but definitely plan to, as I’m curious to see if it will work.
It all worked out for my buddy’s visit, as I got us a last minute tee time at a discounted price through the site and now I’m spreading the word.
