The Picks
A Group – The last time this event was held at this track (Hamilton Golf & Country Club) Jim Furyk took home the hardware. Despite his US Open collapse Furyk is having a solid year which includes four top 10s. He also ranks 5th in fairways hit.
B Group - Hunter Mahan has cooled down a bit from his two victories earlier this year, but he’s quietly holding some consistency posting a lot of top 20 finishes (T19 last week at the Open). Mahan leads the TOUR in ball striking and is also 3rd in GIR. I like Mahan to start, alongside Brandt Snedeker. Yes, I know Sneds laid an egg a bit on Sunday last week, but for close to three days he looked unbeatable. He also didn’t make a single bogey for the 40 holes of play. Snedeker will be looking to bounce back after last week’s finish.
C Group – To start in the C group I like the Canadian local Graham DeLaet. He’s well rested after not playing forĀ two weeks. His last finish was a T12 at the Greenbrier. He’s a very good ball striker as well, ranking 15th on TOUR.
Starting Foursome: Jim Furyk, Hunter Mahan, Brandt Snedeker, Graham DeLaet
On the Bench: Matt Kuchar, Bo Van Pelt, Scott Stallings, Scott Piercy
