With only two weeks left in the Fantasy Golf season, the push is on to rack up as many points as possible. It’s also a sad fact that we’ll have to wait until January before starting a new season. The third round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs gets underway this week in Indianapolis for the BMW Championship, being played at Crooked Stick Golf Club. After this week, the points are reset for the final 30 players heading to the TOUR Championship.

The Picks

A GroupPhil Mickelson hadn’t done all that much recently until a T4 last week at the DBC. He’s got a new putting grip, using “the claw” that seems to be working…for now. Mickelson ranked 4th in Strokes Gained Putting for the week and also chalked up 20 birdies. All could be signs that Lefty is turning things around at the right time. I’ll be giving him the start this week, with Sergio Garcia on the bench. Sergio took last week off to rest, but before that he won  the Wyndham Championship and then followed it up with a T3 at The Barclays.

B Group - I don’t know how you avoid taking Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy this week. Rory looked as strong as ever last week at the DBC, winning while not necessarily even having his best stuff. Tiger leads the TOUR in total driving and also ranked T2 in both GIR and birdies last week at the DBC. All this said, I’m actually going to leave Rory on the bench to start, and choose to instead start Dustin Johnson alongside Tiger. DJ is getting very hot towards the end of the season and should be energized after being named one of Davis Love III’s captains picks. He followed up a T3 at The Barclays with a T4 at the DBC.

C Group -I’m not messing with my C group at all this week from last. However, I’ll instead start Louis Oosthuizen over Dufner. I’ve been picking Louis so much lately that I’ve actually finally learned to spell his name from memory. I’m hoping the slight pull in his pec last week won’t be a lingering injury as we head in to the final two events. But Louis looked untouchable through most of the DBC and still made it interesting coming down to the final couple holes on Sunday. Like Johnson he’s also coming off of two consecutive top five finishes in the first two playoff events.

Starting Foursome: Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Tiger Woods, Louis Oosthuizen
On the Bench: Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy, Jason Dufner
