Two FedEx Cup Playoff events are in the books and two still remain. The top 70 move on to the BMW Championship being held just north of Chicago, at Luke Donald’s home course. There’s no cut this week either, so that always makes it tricky trying to figure out when to start players when making your fantasy golf picks.
A group: Jason Dufner gets the start in the A group this week. He seems to be playing the most consistently over the past 6 weeks among the other names like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Dufner is riding three top 10 finishes in his last four starts which includes the PGA Championship victory. His putter is starting to come alive this season just in the right time.
B group: A lot of great options still alive in the B group. I’ll be starting two of the old dudes in Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker. I think Furyk is going to be on a mission to prove Fred Couples made a bad decision in not taking him as a Captains pick for the upcoming Presidents Cup. Stricker made it a bit interesting coming down the home stretch at the DBC two weeks ago. He picked up his 3rd runner up finish of the season there in only his 11th start! He’ll feel close to home in the Midwest this week.
C group: I’m opting to not switch up my C group guys at all this week, but will swap the starting order at least. Jordan Spieth, fresh off of being named a captains pick for the Presidents Cup at only 20 years old, as well as a Sunday 62 at the DBC, where he finished with three straight birdies and an eagle, is riding quite a bit of momentum. The youngster ranks 3rd in the all-around ranking on Tour as well.
Staring foursome: Jason Dufner, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Jordan Spieth
On the bench: Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, Graham DeLeat, Adam Scott
